Galloway Forest Park Early March

A cold cloudy day and not great for photos, but managed a few!

We parked at the Murrays Monument Car Park off The Queens Way.
Murrays Monument sign.

I first walked up here about 30 years ago when on holiday in the area.

A few patches of sunlight about.

Believe it or not this was a Crossbill on top of the monument, there were quite a few about!

Tall foret trees

Waterfall

Lots of croaking frogs about

Damp moss

Pete looking for Goldeneyes

Mike dressed for the cold

There was one male Goldeneye with two females

Loch of the Lowes (the other one!)

Reflected reeds

A small flock of Long Tailed Tits were flitting about in the willows

Huge masses of frogspawn about.

A frog on guard!

Patch of sunlight on the hills

Coltsfoot, one of the first flowers of the year.

Moss covered forest

Matt Bakers beautiful "Quorum" sculptures
They become even more stunning as nature decorates them

Back down the hill to the carpark, we didnt visit the waterfalls today as the paths were very slippery.
