We don’t get away very often, but it was about time we had a trip down south to see some of the family.
We stayed at my sisters in Wiltshire and visited RSPB Leighton Moss on the way home.
Here are a few shots of some of the places we visited on our whistle stop tour.
First, a few creatures found in my sisters garden:
Woundwort Shieldbug-a first for me!
Hummingbird Hawk-moth
Corizus hyoscyami
Garden-cross Spider
While I was there I was thumbing through a copy of Landlove Magazine and saw this familiar photo, taken in my garden by son Mike!
Next a visit to Crofton Pumping Station, by the Kennet and Avon Canal:
Small Tortoiseshell
Wilton
Marbled Orb-weaver
Red Kite
Next stop Wilton Windmill
Then on to Oare Arboretum
Vapourer moth caterpillar
Oare House
Speckled Wood
After a couple of days in Wiltshire and a visit to Southampton we travelld back. An overnight stay in Knutsford broke our journey and a visit to RSPB Leighton Moss on the way back.
RSPB Leighton Moss
Brown Rat
Speckled Wood
Hawker
Pheasant
Great-white Egret
Lunch!
Buff-tailed Bumblebee
The gardens have been newly done and look lovely!
Nice new hides too!
Marsh Tit
Stag Sculpture
A very tiring but enjoyable trip!
