We headed up The Queens Way in the Galloway Forest Park for a walk in the snow. Stopping between The Glen of the Bar and Murrays Monument and headed up the track.
The track crosses the Palnure Burn by Clugie Linn
Looking back we had a good view of Murrays Monument
Log piles
Snow on the hills
Waterfall
As we climbed the track became more snowy
There were lots of paw prints in the snow…
…but no human prints
Snow shining in the sunlight
We weren’t expecting to find this! A Drinker Moth caterpillar and it was alive!
Panorama, click to see larger
More prints, deer this time
view back down the hill, you can just see a tiny Murrays Monument in the distance
The snow was quite deep up here
Mini alpine forest!
We reached the Louran Burn and had lunch by the waterfall, unfortunately it is in a deep ravine and no good for photos, so we headed back down. By the time we got back to the car, much of the snow had gone and it had started to rain!
